I just got an update from Brandie. It sounds like things are going very well and God is answering our prayers for rest and for them to make some progress.
Haddie’s feeding at the breast and her continuous NG feeding have been going well and they feel like they’ve got a good feeding plan in place now.
They have decided that Haddie Joy will have the aortopexy on Monday or Tuesday depending on the surgeon’s schedule.
While it’s hard to think of a 15 week old infant going through surgery, the aortopexy is well worth it because it’s so important to open her airway. They are even hopeful that it could improve her eating somewhat.
Once they do the surgery, Haddie Joy will spend 2 or 3 days in Pediatric Intensive Care for monitoring and recovery. That will be tough on Brooke and Peter because they won’t really be able to stay in the room with her like they do now, so let’s just pray that the surgery is successful without complications and that Haddie recovers quickly so that they will put her back into a “normal” room with her mom & dad as soon as it is safely possible.
After they are discharged, they will be able to come home, see how things are going with her gaining weight and reflux, and evaluate whether they want to do the GI surgeries.
I was thinking this afternoon about how God is surely using Brooke, Peter, & Haddie Joy as they are at Vanderbilt. I know that even though they get stressed and exhausted, they are striving to be loving and kind to all of the people they encounter there, and of course, I’ve already told you how little Miss Haddie just radiates love and joy.
Let’s just continue to lift them up and pray that God will continue to guard their hearts and minds and use them for His glory.
Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
